during secondary school, i failed my composition.
i also failed my comprehension.
so i failed my english.
mum sent me to British Council, oh i swear i still remembered how bad it felt to have to sit in the secondary 2 class when i was actually in secondary 3.
"hi my name is Farhi, i am from Madrasah Wak Tanjong - secondary 3"
and so the whole class had this oh-jesus-he-must-have-been-so-bad-in-his-english kind of look.

haha.

i scored a B for English during my O levels nonetheless.

and so i failed my General Paper in my first year A levels and in my prelims.
haha, i never had any flair for writing, nor an interest to begin with.
so i regret not reading and practicing to write.
i would have got into NUS back then.
haha but who cares?

anyhows.

i just had to think about this, about coming up with various theories which are never validated by any regulatory bodies or whatsoever kind of pure authority.

so SMRT has this huge SAGA about its faulty 'machines', and inflation is going to be on record high next year and moving forward, and our incomes are not going to be increasing proportionately with the percentage of income tax, and ORCHARD FLOODED again!

SUDDENLY COUNTRIES OUTSIDE SINGAPORE QUESTION: WHAT THE F**K (maybe they are not so vulgar, other than "you-know-which-country-rivals-us") IS HAPPENING TO SINGAPORE?

it is just interesting to know how media creates 'awareness' about what happens to Singapore. all of these are news, news, news and more news. directly news means money. but isn't it counterproductive, that a profit-making organisation (e.g. the media industry, of course i am not allowed to name specifically which, as this is against the rights of writing in a blog) is constantly finding ways to market their headlines, not knowing on the other hand what major effects it could have been for the country.

inflation is expected to rise even more. so much more that our income is not going to be able to cope with it.

from the EconomicsHELP.com, inflation is derived as (quoted):
"A sustained increase in the aggregate or general price level in an economy. Inflation means there is an increase in the cost of living". (I SERIOUSLY WONDER WHY ECONOMIC TERMS MUST BE SO COMPLICATED). haha. SILLY.

it just means that prices of goods in an economy (country) has risen, i.e. it means we can afford lesser with the same amount of income.

so think about it, why has prices went up?

THEORETICALLY:
Price = (Money Supply x Velocity Of Circulation) / National Income

Money Supply is the amount of money available in the economy, i.e. whatever we deposit into the banks and cash.

Velocity Of Circulation is the number of times a worker is paid, assumed to be constant as 98% of us are paid once in a month.

National Income is the total income generated by:
i) Consumer Spending - i.e. the revenues generated by companies which we buy our things from.
ii) Investments in our country
iii) Government Spending - what government purchase for us, e.g. build roads, new houses etc.
iv) Our net exports which other coutries buy.

so mathematically, if the money supply increases or the national income falls, our PRICES WILL FREAKING GO UP.

what is actually happening is, our money supply is increasing, why? it could either be the case that the MAS (Monetary Authority Of Singapore) is pumping more cash into the economy (for don't know whatever reason, probably thinking that it could boost our currency up), or we have higher salaries now - in any case, i think it could be for the higher income group.

i don't know which way it works but im guessing with higher salaries, we have more disposable income i.e. income after deduction of CPF etc, and we are able to save more, we inject even more cash into the reserves, i.e. into the banks. so this increases the money supply even more, which results in the increase of prices as money supply increase will give banks a higher cash in circulation, it will encourage banks to loan out more, hence reducing interest rates, and increasing the demands for loans, which will trigger the prices up.

analogy: if you know you are able to sell something which everyone wants to buy, and no one else can make it, would you increase your price, at least a little? YES.

that's why prices increases with demand, money, is a monopoly.

coming back to the above equation:

one of the ways to reduce the price again is toe increase the national income which is made up of the components mentioned above previously:
i) Consumer Spending - i.e. the revenues generated by companies which we buy our things from.
ii) Investments in our country
iii) Government Spending - what government purchase for us, e.g. build roads, new houses etc.
iv) Our net exports which other coutries buy.

you see, government is making alot of houses, building new infrastructures, spending on education, spending on alot of things, why? to increase the national income.
and this will help reduce the equation again. hence contain inflation.

SO WHY DO SINGAPOREANS COMPLAIN SO MUCH?

i must admit, i still love to write.

notably important are the vital crucialities in life.
1. health
2. safety
3. financial security
4. perfect future plan
and the list goes on and keeps going on.

what complicates me is power.
and that above all, the economy governs the whole world.
everyone is rationally an economic man.
i.e. no man is willing to compensate cost with lesser benefits and vice versa.
so what is power in that accordance?
i say what Witzum say.
to hold the penny is power, to hold power is the whole penny.

seemingly popular notions of joy in direct correlation with financial security.
i believe that.
in every sense.
henceforth, pressured in every sense.

i know its hard at the start.
and i know its convenient much if the penny is ever ready.

it has been really a while went i last wrote.
of course i loved to write.
once.
in my life.
i really wrote a lot.
and everything i felt, saw, thought about was deterred into writings.
but now, i find myself writing less.
i guess its good to write.
cause its fascinating to see how the mind works as we write.

nothing much to share actually.
just thought of revisiting this blog of mine once more.
if anyone is still reading this small blog of mine.
it would be myself.

presumably there would be random viewers who come and drop by once and a moment in and out at times.
but its just plain boring isn't it, this blog i mean?

costs have been rising by alot this few days.
ever since the late credit crunch and recession, it has been really picking up and disgustingly disturbing for the middle income age gap. -referred to earnees of $1700 and more.
particularly factual that this is the worst income gap that would be affected by the current 'pick up'.
yes, true the appreciation of the singapore dollars is beneficial.
to the national income? not really.
think about it again, a moment of sustainability is definitely true.
because this appreciation will enhance our investments, but in the long run.
think about rising prices and unexplained wages.
how can a layman cope with the upward surge of the inflation rates?
expectation explains 4 - 5%.
which is putting the middle income group as 'lower' income, and the lower income group to be honest, unclassified, as it will be really hard to cope with the consumer prices.

note the frantic thing is that.
national income is made up of consumer spending, investments, imports, exports, government spending.
bluntly speaking, investments are bound to rise of course, but think about it again, the rising prices would affect consumer spending.
we will logically tend to save, instead of spend.
due to this increasing price indexes.
im talking about normal necessities.
5 years ago, flour used to cost a dollar a kilo. now its double the price.

suggestions:
revisit the policies.
especially the income group, perhaps there should be more to just low, mid and high income group.
there has to be a larger classification to the public.
reason being, the subsidies and benefits could be spread out more.
hence spending levels could be sustained (at least).
a sustained spending level will mean a maintained national income, which means stable GDP growth, which means steady prices.

reduce forced savings and provide more cashflows for the public.
CPF mainly - could be reduced by a mere percentage.
as this would help them sustain with the current inflation.
with more cashflow residents could allocate more of their financial resources to the purchase of necessitites.

induce more investment plans, instead of saving plans.
to cope with future inflations, bonds could be purchased and a higher interest rate.
to increase the future value of the bonds so that more will invest in risk free investments.
compared to volatile investments.

just a few cents.
